Medical Disclaimer
What you are buying
Our incontinence protections are Class I medical devices within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2017/745. They bear the CE mark, and the instructions on the packaging state the size, absorption capacity, and precautions for use. These instructions are authoritative, not this page or any product sheet.
Bed pads and inserts follow the same principle: they are hygiene and protection products designed to absorb and keep the skin dry.
What they are not
A protection absorbs. It does not cure anything. It does not treat incontinence, does not slow it down, and does not act on any of its causes. Wearing appropriate protection improves comfort, skin health, and daily life — it does not replace a medical assessment, and being well-protected does not mean the issue is resolved.
We make no therapeutic claims, and if you read one about us anywhere, it does not come from us.
This website is not medical advice
Everything you find here — guides, articles, absorption calculators, assistants, size comparisons — is general information. It is neither a diagnosis, nor a prescription, nor personalised medical advice. We know neither your state of health, nor your medical treatments, nor your skin.
Never delay a medical consultation because of what you have read on this website, and do not stop an ongoing treatment based on a web page — including ours.
Choosing protection
Our absorption ratings are measured in a laboratory according to a consistent method. They serve to compare our products with one another. They do not predict how long a protection will last for you: that depends on your body shape, activity level, fluid intake, medications, and the nature of the leaks.
If you are unsure, consult a healthcare professional — a general practitioner, nurse, pharmacist, midwife, or continence service. In care facilities, the evaluation is the responsibility of the healthcare team.
When to seek prompt medical attention
Certain signs go beyond choosing protection. Speak to a healthcare professional promptly if you notice:
- blood in your urine or stools;
- pain, a burning sensation when urinating, or fever;
- a sudden worsening of leaks, or leaks that appear all at once;
- an inability to urinate, or the feeling that you never completely empty your bladder;
- damaged skin: persistent redness, sores, weeping, or an unusual odour;
- a reaction that resembles an allergy — itching, rash, swelling.
In an emergency, call your local emergency services. We are not a medical service and cannot respond to you in these situations.
Proper use
- Single use only. A protection must not be washed, reused, or cut.
- Change regularly, even if the protection is not saturated: prolonged contact irritates the skin, not just the volume of fluid.
- Do not flush down the toilet. Dispose of with household waste, in accordance with your local waste sorting rules.
- Do not use protection on broken skin, an open wound, or a surgical site without consulting a healthcare professional.
- Do not combine two absorbent protections on top of one another: this does not double absorption and prevents the product from functioning as designed.
- Store away from moisture and heat, in its packaging, and observe the date printed on it.
If something goes wrong
A medical device that causes an issue must be reported — that is how defects are identified.
Write to us at sk@nateen.com with the product reference, the batch number printed on the packaging, and details of what happened. We record every report and escalate matters to the manufacturer as required.
You may also, independently of us, report a serious incident to the competent authority for medical devices in your country. This is your right; we do not need to be informed, and we cannot object to it.
Children and infants
The products sold on this shop are intended for adults and adolescents. For a child, seek the advice of a paediatrician: incontinence in children has neither the same causes nor the same management as in adults.
Keep packaging out of the reach of young children — plastic film poses a risk of suffocation.
